October 2008: Actually, recent articles in the paper about this property explain why redevelopment hasn't been forthcoming:
"The late Pete Sauro ran his popular downtown cleaners for nearly 40 years at South 14th and Pacific Avenue before closing shop in 2000. By then, the used dry cleaning solvent that had been dumped into a dry well on the site had tainted groundwater below four city blocks. ... Sauro’s heirs once hoped to sell the property – after a lengthy cleanup process that could have lasted three years and surely would have foiled plans to relocate Russell [Investments, which is looking for a place to put an office and consolidate its local assocates] nearby. Now they are offering to transfer ownership to the city and pay $550,000 toward cleanup. The City Council is scheduled to decide whether to accept – and take on what’s estimated to be a $2 million project to remove the contamination – at its meeting tonight." (Sept 23, 2008)

July 2011: After the cleanup, $70k in funds that the governor gave to the city to keep Russell Investments in town were spent handing this land over, as a filled-in surface parking lot rather than a two-story parking lot or a structure, to DaVita dialysis. Yeah, some people question the legality and ethics of the money being spent on something other than what they were earmarked for as well as giving a private parking lot to a private business, but staying out of that argument I just want to update the post that this site is off the list now.

I just got this response from the Gorilla Glue company when I asked if there was a safe way to remove the glue.

"Thank you for contacting The Gorilla Glue Company. Here’s some information that we hope will be helpful.

If the glue is still wet, you can use a dry rag and mineral spirits or paint thinner to remove Gorilla Glue from most surfaces. However, once it is dry, there are no known solvents or cleaning agents that can remove Gorilla Glue. We have looked at and tested many different agents but none have worked. Therefore, the only way to remove cured Gorilla Glue is mechanically, such as sanding, scraping, plucking, cutting, scratching, chipping or chiseling."

And also, if you have bottles of Gorilla Glue, PLEASE keep it out of reach from kids & especially pets. There are awful, awful stories & photos online from pets getting a hold of bottles of this stuff. It expands in their stomach.
